Stone Island

There is a brand that has focused on making special materials for decades, repeating the process of washing and wiping discarded truck tarpaulin. They attracted public attention by continuing their experimental challenges differentiated from other brands in product development.

This is the story of Stone Island, which is enjoying the golden age through experiments and technological innovations in dyeing textiles and clothing.

Stone Island

Stone Island repeatedly conducts research and fabric experiments that elaborately mix workwear and military components and details every season. Examples include SCARABEO, which thinly coats the fabric made of nylon metal and reflects beautiful rainbow colors when illuminated, and REFLECTIVE WEAVE RIPSTOP-TC, which is made by weaving thousands of glass particle resins with reflective tape on nylon fabric.

They present a collection that only they can do using special fabric developed with their own know-how. Items completed with palettes of colors that change subtly depending on the rich color tone and viewing angle convey visual pleasure as if looking at a single watercolor painting.

Among them, the prototype research series, which presents its own collection of fabrics created through special construction methods and processes at Stone Island's laboratory, is drawing the most attention. Only 100 jumpsuits were released worldwide in the third series and are still being resold at high prices.

Collaboration is also successful every time. Several collections with Supreme have never failed. A case in point is the 2019 spring collection, which features a silk light jacket coated with polyurethane and a vest engraved with the ‘Stone Island & Supreme’ logo.

In addition, the golf wear capsule collection with Nike and the collection introduced by Japanese bag brand ‘Porter’ have been well received so far for its attractive design that incorporates Stone Island's unique nylon metal material and brand identity.

Stone Island

Stone Island, which celebrated its 40th anniversary last year, has completed its current identity since it was acquired by Carlo Rivetti, creative director and CEO since its inception. He successfully fused the wonderful design and practical details without restrictions on his activities.

Perhaps it is natural that enthusiastic supporters emerge from those who quietly demonstrate strong innovation every season.
